Am I missing God’s Call?

What is God calling you too? This question seems to echo in my mind over and over again. What is God’s will for me? What does He want me to do? Am I making the right choices right now? As if God’s plan for me is some great mystery that I am supposed to sit and figure out. But in all reality God has made it clear. Every little thing I am supposed to do? No, but I do not believe that was ever His plan! Rather His will that is written out in the Bible!

He calls us to a life of love for one another. He calls is to a life of trust in Him. Over and over in the Bible we can see God’s will for out life’s. If we follow the call that he makes clear in His word, then we will not miss His spific call for our lives! But if we neglect to follow what He calls us to in His word then we will surely miss out altogether! Will God use our lives for good either way? Yes, but I know I for one don’t want to be the example of disobedience, but rather an example of someone who if flowing God with all their heart!

So, read your Bible, follow what God has called you to. Pray, and don’t, miss out on the life God is calling you to! He has made His plan known! Follow His word, and you will follow His plan for your life!

What the Church is Missing

So many people trying to make their church a place people will want to come to. They change the music, make sure they have stuff for the children, make sure the preacher is relevant and so on. It seems like the never-ending goal of many of the churches I have been to. Yeah, is that stuff nice? Well yes sometimes. Is it what they need to get people to want to be a part of the church? No, I don’t believe so. I have been going to churches trying to find one to be a part of. The minute I walk in that door do I want to stay because the music? Wow great music, I should come here. Nope! Is it the preaching? No! Kids program? No. What is it then? What is this one thing that a church needs to have? So simple, yet so forgotten! Love.

Yes, I am looking for a church where people care. Care about the people who walk in the door. And guess what I do not believe it is just me! People want to feel as if someone cares for them they want to feel loved. Everything else can be over looked if the church truly cares about others.

John 13:35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Love is something the world is lacking because true love comes from God! Selfless love. Putting other people’s needs before our own. Not just physical needs but mental needs. People are always thinking about what will help them the most. What will give them what they want, but that should be changed and everything seen through the eyes of love. Why am I doing this? Why do I want to change the music at the church? Because the people around me will be able to worship better? Or because it is what I like? Why do I want this children’s program? So I can brag about the number of children who come? Or because you love the children and want them to have a place where they too can learn about the giver of this great love that you have. Will love cause you to change programs your church offers. Yes. Will love affect your ministries? Yes. But ministries and churches changed by love and not by selfish reasons, is the church that is going to succeed! It is the church that is going to look different to the world!  Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,” They world has music, they world has actives for children. But the thing the world does not have is love. 1 Corinthians 13:2 “but do not have love, I am nothing.” If your church is not loving others is it meaningless.

So stop worrying if you are doing this right or that right. Stop worrying about everything else and pray that God gives you a heart for people. That He gives you His great love! Love for others and love for Him.

Prayer is Not Enough

It is so easy to see someone going through a struggle and feel sorry for them. You see a picture on a sight and click share. Maybe say lets pray for them. You see children in other countries starving feel bad click share and move on to your life. You did feel bad for them isn’t that enough? We know the answer to this question. It is not like I am saying something that we do not know. No, it is not enough. God does not call us to feel sorry for people, but to help them! The pain that we feel for others is something to cause us to act. Feeling sorry is not enough. Praying is not enough. Instead of simply praying God does something, be the tool he uses to do something.

When Goliath stood there to attack God’s people, David did not pray from a distance that God would do something, but rather he knew because God was with him, he could do something. We have that same God here with us, and we need to take action to help. We are ALL called to help those in need. We are ALL called to love one another!

In America even the poorest people have much more then people in other countries. Children are going with out food, people do not have clean water, people are dieing. And feeling sorry is not, nor will ever be enough! We need to stop waiting for someone else to do something and act!

James 2:15-16 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?

On that note here are some real children who need help. And a simple way to help them. Give! And never neglect to pray for them, and that God will use you to impact there lives. And if you do not have the money to give, first thing I suggest is look for something you can give up so you have money to give. If you still do not have money to give look for people in need and offer them a helping hand! If you have hands and can give, do both. Be the way God helps people!

As a Child…

Sometimes I just sit there and look at my child as he plays. He, doesn’t really understand what is going on, and is simply trying to satisfy his needs. He is oblivious to the world around him nothing else madders and there is nothing else going on. When he falls down he looks at me like, why did I let that happen. I know that falling just happened when you are trying to learn and grow. If you want to learn how to walk then you fall and hurt yourself. To him, it just doesn’t make any sense. Before he could eat solid foods he didn’t understand why I never let him eat the “good food” that I was eating and all I let him eat was the nasty baby food. It just didn’t make sense.

I think this is so often the way that we are with God, We question why did God allow the pain that he does. Why doesn’t He allow us to have the things that we want, and I think the simple answer is we just can not understand we do not have the ability to understand. Why? Because we are not God. We can not understand that type of knowledge, just as a child doesn’t understand why we, their parents make them do what we do, we can not always understand why our Father in heaven does what He does. And we just need to be okay with that and follow Him, because we know we can trust Him and His love for us.

Isaiah 55:9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

The Savior’s World

Father, Son and Holy Ghost

No beginning still no end.

Creator of the universe

Of land and sea

Of man and beast

Though man You made

You gave them choice

The choice they made

Now gave them death

Still You gave words

The words of life

The words of Christ

Born of a virgin this Saviour came

He blinded eyes and opened hearts

To the slave He set the captive free

To the free He bound them by His words.

Death He took in place of all

Forgiven now we are free to be

Still a day is coming, judgment day

Day of beauty

Day of pain

He will take those who died to self

And still leave those who led their life

To follow Christ, yes my desire

I will love Him, till the end

Confronting Falsehood in the Church

We need to make sure that we clean the church of all the lies and help lead people to the truth in God’s Word

Via Emmaus

falseIt is striking how often Jesus’ apostles warn the church about false teachers and divisive persons. In the Pastoral Epistles Paul calls Titus and Timothy to beware of false teachers in Crete and Ephesus, respectively. But it’s not just these two pastors who are to address falsehood, the entire New Testament calls out the darkness resident in the church. Because of the cosmic conflict between Christ’s church and Satan’s hordes, false doctrine and false living are regular threats to Christ’s kingdom.

Since many churches face such internal and internecine threats, we need to steel our minds with God’s Word so that we might boldly address the darkness around us.
